Hip 2 B Square

Is Thursday over already?  This week has just zipped right by!  Have you entered the Traveling Stash Giveaway yet?  If not,you have until tomorrow evening,so if you want a chance to win some yummy fabric leave me a comment ;)

If Mr. Random/LadyLuck is with you this could be heading to your mailbox!!!

"The Beast"(my car) has been in dire need of a trash bag,so this week I whipped one up.  Nothing fancy, but it does feature my favorite color :)

Holiday Flourish by Peggy Toole for Robert Kaufman, these are the two fabrics I picked for the Christmas in July 5" Charm Swap !

All squared up,now all I need to do is collate them slip them in an envelope and ship them off :)

Speaking of Christmas in July, remember this block? (from last October)

Here it is with two of my other favorite Christmas blocks also from last year.  This last week I Modge Pogded them onto canvas boards.  This winter they are going to adorn my sewing walls :)

A parting shot of one of my lilies :)  Happy Friday a couple hours early ;)

crayon roll-ups,travel tissue holders & Owlie blocks too!

There are 25 travel tissue holders in this basket, which I started last night
and finished tonight.  when I add the 10-12 left over from the last
craft fair the basket will be just about full.

When I counted up the packets of tissues I counted 25,when I
cut out the pieces for the holders I mis-counted and so there was
one holder left over.  Which will be a start for the next batch!

Crayon roll-ups there are 14 pictured here.  The 4 at the bottom of
the picture are finished.  I still need to sew on the buttons for
the other 10.  (hopefully during lunches the next couple days)

I decided to go with a stocking stuffer for most of the new items I
made/am finishing up for the craft fair.

Today I received another squishie package in the mail!
First up is a red owlie outlined in white.  Which really makes this
block pop!

I didn't send enough of the border fabric for this little owl :(
Sadly I don't have enough of this print left to finish it myself
either.  So I need to change the border or see about purchasing
a little bit more of this print.
He sure is cute tho :)

Here are all the blocks :+)
The two owlie blocks a signature block, and a improv block too!

6 Owlie blocks to go!!!

Stockings,cozys,quilt blocks...

The Stockings were hung by the fireplace on the fence with care!
I saw these in a magazine recently, they are so flippin cute,I knew
that they were going straight to the Top of my list :+)

It took me about a day and a half to make 12 of them!  There are
8 large ones and 4 smaller ones.  The toes are what made them such
a challenge for me,especially getting the lining in properly!!
My sewing room was pretty blue with all the swearing going on
in there.  Of course it didn't help that I used flannel for the lining
either!
I will make more but, next time I will Not be using flannel for the
lining.
These are going to the Craft Fair with me next Saturday.

Mr. P treated me (and his-self) to a Starbucks this afternoon :)
Which reminded me that cozy's were on my to sew "list".  One
of my Bloggy friends had sent me a fat quarter of each of these
prints earlier this year!  They were sitting there waiting for me to
decide what to use them to make.
Some of these will also be at my booth!
In different prints of course ;)

This is my pretty in pink block!  It is one of three that I recently
received from Jenna who is our Bee Mama!

Next up is the party girl ;)  That is what I am calling this block!
She just looks like she is wearing a party dress to me.

Here are all three blocks, both owlie blocks and the signature
block too.
Thank you Jenna,I love them all!

Know what these might be???

Every year the local Safeway store has a "Tree of Hope"  which
one of the local non-profit organizations puts up and decorates
with these paper ornaments.

Each ornament has a number and letter code on it.  Each one says
Male or Female  and the age of the person it is for.
Below that is a short list of suggested items that person needs or
could use.

Usually I take one ornament, but this year I found 2 that called out
to me :)
Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday!

This is the first one out of the envelope.
Very cute little guy!

Next up is one that really pops!  Love the red on this one :)

Here are both the owl blocks and the signature block.  I love
this little signature block.
And then.....

Much to my surprise and delight!
There was this over the top block!
I am sooo keeping this block for myself.  Yep I know, you are
right.  I am being selfish, but selfish or not this baby is MINE
All MINE!

I had to put it on top of another fabric to get a good photo, because
my table is white, and the white was blending in to the table.

A Close~up so you can see for yourself just how Sweet this
block is :+)
Look at the detail...

I was so excited about this block that I totally forgot to add the
candy that was also in the package to the photo!   Sorry about
that :(

Hope your Monday was as Great as mine!

Christmas &Sew Bee Blissful Blocks!

Today was a great day for mail!  There were 3 different
packages in my box.  Each one of them containing swap
quilt blocks!

First up is my Christmas Block  for September!
My favorite color is green, which this wonky star has
quite a bit of.
It is not something that I would have made
for myself.  Because I have not ever made a star block yet.
(need to try that one of these days)
I really like it tho!
Thank you Partner :)

Next up are blocks for my Sew Bee Blissful block bee.
Sorry the photos are not very good,I was trying to take them
outside on my deck.  The wind came up and so I had to
snap them quickly before it blew them away!

I requested 2 blocks for my month,a signature block, and if my bee mates
wanted to and had enough fabric another 6.5 scrappy block, also for
the back of the quilt.

For my "little"extra I requested a goodie recipe for the up coming
Holidays!
So in the future I will be posting about these as I try them out :)
These blocks are so adorable!  Love how other people put
the fabrics together.
This is going to be a super cute quilt.

This week has been such a crazy busy one.  With inventory
at work.  Which meant working 7 hours and then going home for
about 3 hours and then back to work for another 4 hours.
I am so glad that it only comes once a year!

Sewing was out of the question for most of the week.  As I usually
do that in the evening after dinner.
So this evening I had to get in a tiny bit of sewing.  Didn't do much
because I am tired.
However I did make a potholder :)

This is the back/bottom.  I added a loop for hanging in one of
the corners.
This was so easy peasy,I got it right the first time!
I found the inspiration for this project here.

Gil (my son) recently asked me to make him a quilt!  I am so
excited about that :)
So I will be playing around with some trying out some blocks
and then sending him some pictures to see what he likes.
This is the first one,it is a 9 patch but isn't exactly square.
I made the blocks 2 1/2 x 3 1/4

Hope everyone has a sweet weekend :)

for the tutorial.

This is Sneak Peak # 1 for one of my Christmas Block Swap

Weekend sewing

First up is this little owlie bag that started out as a quilt block
which you can check out here
Last night I decided that it was going to be a bag,so set about
making that happen.
The inside is a dark brown herb fabric,I know that herbs and owl's
have nothing in common, but that was the only dark brown fabric
in my stash.  There is also a pocket inside, that will hold a cell
phone or keys or whatever.
This would make a great bag for taking a smaller craft/sewing
project with you on the go :)

Next up,something that has been on my "want to make"list for
a while now.
Love how both this and the one below turned out :)
Although I still have plenty of room for improvement in the
zipper department!
That being said,I am improving.

Notice the zipper pulls on these little cuties?
Well I have had these metal bobbins hanging around since I purchased
my Janome a few years ago.  Since it uses plastic bobbins I no longer
use these.  However,I did not want to throw them away.  I just kept
thinking that they could be useful again.
Sew when making the above bag it hit me!
Don't those sprockets on the fabric look like bobbins?  Or maybe they
are bobbins!
Anyway there are still 3 of these little bags awaiting my return to the sewing room.
Hope you all had a great weekend & have a even better week ahead :)

Fabric cut & ornaments finished

Second ornament all finished and ready to go with the Christmas
block!
This one is a dark wine/burgundy-ish color,with
a gold scroll like design on it.
I topped it with a resin Santa.

Here is the first one that I posted about last night.
This one is silver with red and green dots scattered here and
there.
I topped it with a green bow and red leaves.

After dinner I took on the seemingly daunting task of making a
decision on what fabric to cut and get ready to ship out to my
bee mates for my blocks next month.
I am glad to say that the task has been finished!
Whew!
Now I just have to quit freaking out about whether or not I
included enough fabric.

Happy Friday to everyone tomorrow :)

She's got ,Sunflower Eyes?!

If you are a regular follower of my blog you probably know that
I joined the Sew Bee Blissful quilting Bee.
October is my month to be the queen bee!
(excited & nervous about that)
Anyway I have been going bug-eyed looking at quilt blocks
trying to decide what block to have my bee mates make for me.

The owl block above is the one that I am leaning toward.  I found a
free tutorial at Buzzing and Bumbling for it!

Sew,what do you think?
I had to piece this first one together as I didn't quite understand
the instructions completely.  Then realized my mistake after cutting
out the pieces, that should have been one piece!
My next block will be correct :)   I didn't want to throw away
fabric,so decided to piece this one.

Now I just have to figure out how much fabric to send each of my bee mates!
