What Happens in Vegas...

In my last post,I said that it was time for a little break.  That break started on Monday when I clocked out at lunch time.  From there it was a three hour trip to the airport.  An hour or so after my scheduled flight(due to severe thunder,lightening and hail) we finally boarded the plane...

This is where I finally ended up! (after more delays)  Since my arrival was so delayed,I missed the Meet and Greet for Riley Blake's Fabric Fest.  However,from then on things only got better and better!  Jamie from busy bee quilts was patiently waiting for me when I finally stepped out of the taxi!!!

After dropping my bags off at our room (all the way at the end of the hall) we headed over to the shop.

This quilt has snowmen,so of course I had to snap a shot off of it!

Love how the bright chevrons just pop out from the grey background fabric of this quilt.

How about some pretty chevron flowers?

These boots are made for walking,this would make a great little boy quilt.

A new take on Little Red Riding Hood's dress!  This line is of course Little Red Riding Hood.

As you can see from all the displays,the shop set up was Eye Candy every where you looked.

This quilt features 3D boxes and trims.

I really love,love,love this 3D pinwheel quilt,with the sideways chevrons for the boarder!

And how cute are these little ladybugs and bunnies?  I had to buy a panel!

Kelli,from (seriously.. I think it needs stitches.) created this Sweet Mod Geo Cruiser Quilt!  She used Lori Holt's newest line Gracie Girl,which is what you see all piled up below the quilt.

It was an Awesome three days of classes,sewing,quilty friends,fabric,and some shopping too!!!  When the next one comes around I hope to attend again :)  I learned new skills,meet new people,finally meet up with Jamie,after two years of blogging together!  She is the same Sweet person you meet on her blog!  If she gives permission I will post a photo of the two of us during the open sewing night,working on our projects.

More baking & a little Sewing too!

Welcome in the month of ThanksGiving :)  Wow,November,already.  You know what that means right?  No,well that means that pretty soon the U R Priceless blog hop will be starting (Nov 5th),you can find the Schedule Here and my day to post is the 13th :)

Do you like monkey bread?  Me too,so when I came across a recipe for Lemon Monkey bread,well you know I had to try it!

Yes that is another whole casserole dish of Lemony Goodness :)  Want to give these a try yourself?  Of course you do!  The recipe can be found here.  I took all my baked goods to work this morning,and most of these were already gone by the time four o clock rolled around!

When I asked for help finding the fabrics above Kelli from Seriously.. I Think it needs stitches,suggested that I look at find my fabric dot com where I was able to find the Red & the Blue :)  Thanks so much Kelli!

Then my Good Friend Melissa from Sew bittersweet Designs sent me the Green :+)  You are the Best Melissa,Thank You sew very much!

I phone Tutorial (Almost)

Hey peeps!  How is your Saturday going?  Mine is going quite well thank you ;)  It has been pretty much a lazy day for me around here,which is not the norm but,it is my "B" Day so..... the dirty dishes will stay in the sink until tomorrow :)

I Phone Cozy/Case

Recently while on vacation in Oregon,I purchased a new phone!  Although my upgrade had been available for a while,there is no sales tax in the state of Oregon :)  Anyway,when the sales guy asked me which case I would like to go with my phone,I replied,that accessory would not be necessary since I  planed on making my own.  LOL!!!  He was like you are going to What???  Um okay.  Mine is Way better than any ole store bought case :)

First off you will need fabric,I chose to use three different prints,but you could use one,two,three or whatever suits you.

Materials needed for this cozy or case are as follows:

• 2 pieces of fabric measuring 10 3/4" x 4"
• 2 pieces of fusible interfacing 10 1/2" x 3 3/4"
• 1 piece of batting 10 1/2"x 3 3/4"
• 1 piece of fabric 2 1/2"x 2"

Cut your two 10 3/4" x 4" pieces lengthwise with the grain of the fabric (see photo below)

Accuracy is very important in this project,so that your I Phone will fit properly into the cozy/case.  So I would highly recommend the use of a rotary cutter and quilt ruler to achieve the best results.

Next,fuse your pieces of interfacing to the wrong sides of each 10 3/4"x 4" of fabric.

Since I forgot to take a photo of this step,I used this one again,because it has the tab in it.
Take your tab and fold it in half,press,unfold and re-fold into fourths,press again.  Sew as close to the edge,on each side of the tab as possible.

Place the two pieces of fabric wrong sides together,take your piece of batting and lay it on top creating a fabric sandwich,with the batting on the top.

Peal/fold back the top piece of fabric and the batting,place your tab inside the layers,with all the raw edges lined up together.  (the folded edge facing inside,away from the outer/raw edge.

Pin the tab in place,in order to get it centered,line it up on your cutting mat.  (see photo above)

Sew around the edge using a 3/8" seam allowance,leave a 3" opening for turning,see where the red thread starts and stops?  Between those is where my 3" is.  It is probably hard to see but,on the same side as the opening,I have trimmed the batting very close to the sewing,but not too close!  (be careful not to trim too close)  Clip corners,for ease of turning and getting your corners to lay flat/look nice.  Now,turn right side out,sorry for the lack of photos for some of the steps,I got so excited about how it was turning out,I forgot to take some of the photos!

Top stitch across each end,push out the corners,press,then fold in half lengthwise,(no photo :(  sorry) making sure that the tab is at the back/bottom side,top stitch from the top to the bottom on each side of the case.

You can just see the white stitching on either side of the case/cozy where I top stitched.

All done,and a perfect fit too!  I hope that you were able to understand this even with the lack/missing photos of some of the steps :)  If not,feel free to ask any questions,and I will do my best to answer them.

Scraps to Hair Barretts

Here it is the middle of the week already,and what do I have to show for it???  Not much,it has been too hot to hang out in the sewing room.

Last week when cutting up all the jeans for the potholder pockets I came across a pair of overall shorts,that had Tweety rivets.  I cut them off and set them aside,to wait for inspiration to come to me.  Well last night it did!

These 4 all finished and ready to list in my shop,I still have two more to make as there were six rivets on the overall shorts.

These fabrics were pulled for a little project I hope to get to sometime this weekend ;)

Goodies from Anna Maria Horner's visit to my quilt guild last friday evening!  She brought along some lovelies in case we wanted to purchase something :)

My Indian Summer charm swap goodies arrived late last week!!!!  The FQ bundle from Pink Chalk Fabrics that coordinates beautifully with the charms :)  My head is swimming with ideas for these beauties!

When I arrived home at lunch a few more sunflowers were blooming,this is the first dark colored one!

Sugar and Spice in a box

The minute I first saw a boxy pouch in blog land,it went onto my, I want to sew that List!  Of course that was sometime last year... This weekend it was finally time to make one of these cute little pouches. What can a girl say,when the list is long,keeps getting longer,and rearranged,sometimes on a daily basis!  

Actually,I just started off playing around with my scraps of Sugar and Spice.  A few weeks ago some of those scraps were turned into two string blocks.  So Saturday ten more of those little guys were sewn up :)  They are 5 x 5 (charm) squares.  I love this line,and have a hard time throwing away even the smallest pieces.  So,after squaring the charms up,the leftover pieces were used to make some smaller blocks.

The inside seam still needs to be hand sewn closed,because it seems that it is time to restock on some colors of thread!  Although this little pouch turned out much smaller than planned,I am loving it :)  The measurements are 3 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 3.

My little boxy pouch started out as a braided block,another one checked off the list!  This is quite fun to sew up and so easy too :)  There are two more waiting to become boxy pouches!

Here are all the little goodies that came out of scraps!!!  One 4 1/2 inch block,one 5 x 5 block,one 3 1/2 block,two 2 blocks,twelve 2 1/2 blocks,and lastly twelve 5 x 5 (charm) string blocks.  There are still some scraps left to play with ;)  They just might find their way into a future giveaway :)

Just call me Dumplin!

I have been wanting to make one of these little "Dumpling"
bag/pouches for a while.
This evening I finally found the time :)
This was super easy and fast to sew!
I will definitely be making a whole lot more of these cute lil
zip pouches!
I added 2 pretty pink buttons on this one,I didn't have any ribbon
small enough to use on the zipper pull,so that will have to be added
later.

Another item on my to make list,this is the second luggage tag that
I made last night.  It turned out better than the first one,below.

Here is my first try at a luggage tag.
It wasn't bad,but not quite the finished size I was wanting.
This one will be going to live with my daughter soon.
So Sweetie,act surprised when you get it!  Wink,Wink ;)

This is my work in progress for the day.
It will be going to one of my Christmas Block
Swap partners for September!  Hopefully
tomorrow I will be able to get one more at least
this close to being finished.
As both blocks are now completed and I want to have
them both shipped by the weekend.

Tomorrow evening I have to get busy and make a decision
on exactly what fabric to send out to my bee mates for my
blocks.  Then it needs to be cut,put into envelopes and
shipped out by no later than Monday!
