Polka Dot Safari

Have you ever noticed how quickly time flies when you have a deadline to meet?  Crazy isn't it?!  Well time has flown right up to my day to post for the Dots On Dots Blog Hop !!!  It was a race to the finish this afternoon, but I made it :)

Firstly,A Monstrous Thank You to all the ladies behind the scenes,You Rock!!!

Secondly,Welcome everyone,Hoppers as well as Followers, and thank you for taking the time to stop in for a visit! :)

I knew from the moment of joining what my block would be,so why did it take me so long to get it done?  Good question, but I will not bore you with all my excuses......

Polka Dot Safari

A while before joining the Dots On Dots Hop I pinned this tutorial, the plan was to make a Birthday Card for Jolene (my daughter, for those of you new to my blog).  When I joined the hop,my plans changed!  I decided to make something with the block for her instead :)  (Yes sweetie this is for you,but you still have to wait until your "B" day to receive it)

The second block, not anywhere as near as challenging as the first one!  For this block, the scrap bin came in very handy ;)  The plan was to also make a tutorial,Sorry that didn't happen :(  Maybe down the road some,or you could just use the tutorial from the link above, which I did.

A peek inside the bag, yes, that is right the blocks are now transformed into a very cute little bag!

The bottom outside of the bag, here I used some of my Sugar and Spice (the aqua with red dots) and a charm square from a dot swap :)

Here is the finished Polka Dot Safari bag!  The plan was to take photos outside, but it got dark,so the sewing table had to do.

The second block is on the outside back of the bag.  The handles are made from the little scraps left over from making the trees on the front.

A side shot, which shows off the handles better :)  So there you have it,the Polka Dot Safari Bag :)  Hope you enjoyed your hop around my blog ;)

Be sure to Hop on over to the blogs listed below for more Polka Dot Goodness!!

Now for a little somethin somethin for all you peeps ;)

I will see if I can muster up some yummy fabric to go along with the above goodies :)  If you are a no reply blogger,Make Sure to leave me a way to contact you in your comment!!!

Enjoy Your Hopping! :)

PS.  Hope I got the scheduling right,as this is the first time ever for me to do that!

  2. Wow, CeLynn! That elephant block is amazing, and then to use it in your bag! Jolene is so lucky. You don't need to add me to the giveaway as I already have that book, but i wanted to comment anyway since your blocks/bag are so awesome.

  8. Dots, more dots, cute blocks all in a bag, what more could you ask for. I sometimes use left over blocks to make bags but to custom make them seems so obvious now. How come I never thought of that, a tutorial would be good that elephant is something else.

  74. Hi CeLynn-Your Polka Dot Safari Bag is soooo cute. I checked out your blog and like your iphone case tutorial. I am also constantly surprised when someone is amazed that we can actually make something! I have a pair of slacks I made probably twenty years ago from a large flowered cotton fabric that I wear when it is warm because it is loose and comfortable. I've had 3 people comment on them recently and it were so easy to make-a one piece pants with three seams, elastic and machine hem. I am hoping that I still have that pattern to make more! I have a question, what do you do with those buds from the cinnamon basil? I just usually compost them, but would be interested if you have a way to use them. Thanks, from California.
