Meet Midas

Midas is my new BFF :)
He was on the Humane society's poster a couple weeks ago
when,I decided to cut through the pet department
to get around some customers blocking the main aisle.
Of course I glanced at the poster as I walked by!
(so it was meant to be,right?)
Yep,I thought so too!

Friday, yesterday, was one week since he came to live with us :)
When we let him out of the carrier he bolted for the nearest hiding
place!  Which was behind the furnace, when he finally ventured out
he then darted behind the refrigerator.

He spent mos of the week alternately hiding either
under the couch or under the bed.
About mid-week he started jumping up on the bed after
we had turned out all the lights!
But as soon as one of us would move he was off the bed in a
flash!
Finally last night he let me pet him! :)

However,he decides when, and then jumps down and runs and
hides.  LOL!
He is a little cutie tho,and I am sure that he will eventually
stop running and hiding!

  1. Makes me miss my TUX. He was gray like your new buddy. My Mom didn't care for cats and my current household is allergic. :-( Tux was a cat I had in college. He was handsome like your new friend. Congrats on your new family member. Glad he was adopted into your home.

  2. Really good choices for pics. And good photography catching those shots. Midas is beautiful, I'm sure he'll get more sociable over time.

  3. Yep, it was meant to be. Cats can do that, you know. When Mom was thinking about a cat we went to adoption day at the local mall. One of the volunteers had brought her obnoxious tween daughter, who kept trying to shoo us away whenever Mom (with her bad eyesight) got close to the cages. We came back the next week - the little dictator wasn't there - and found our beloved Cookie.

  4. I have a cat that was just like that, only he didn't let us touch him for 3 months! Now, when you sit down, he is on your lap! Can't keep him away. I almost gave up on him, his name is Gary (named after SpongeBob's pet snail, Gary), and he is that same beautiful grey and has no tail. We love him.

  7. He is so cute and that is wonderful that you adopted him. It actually sounds like he is coming around pretty good, won't be long and he will be very comfortable with you.
