another finish & a Giveaway

In the blink of an eye it is March!  This year is just cruising right along,before you know it spring will have sprung!

However,it is not spring yet…

Cabin Fever is finished!  That makes this quilt finish #8 for 2015 :)

A few extra blocks and a little AMH Innocent Crush for the backside,and this one is a wrap!

Recently this Sweet pillow arrived in a squshie package from one of my Best Friends :)!  Also included in the package…

Sew Worth It

Mid ~Month check in (ALYOF) And GiveAway #4

The 15th of October already?  Actually it seems more like the middle of December around here,weather wise anyway.  It snowed off and on all day!  (I am so Not ready for that yet)

This months goal is to finish up all of the circles for the Candy Beads quilt,started while at Fabric Fest last month.  Progress so far,all of the 5" & 7" circles done!  Just need to get the 10"circles finished.

Although that might seem like an easy goal to some,this has been a super busy month at work so far.(there have been very few days that have not included overtime)  Then there are also two Secret projects that are in the works,one due by the beginning of next month,one due on the 12th.

Fall sewing ~ crafting ~ Winner & giveaway # 3

Fall Sewing:  This past week it was time to make something with the fabric Jamie gave me at Fabric Fest!  Since my kitchen towels were on their last leg (a long time ago) I decided to make myself my kitchen a new set...

as well as some new potholders,and also a set of four napkins!  Thank you Jamie,Love this new addition to my kitchen :)

The first set turned out so nicely,I decided to make up a few sets to sell at the fm.  This set has four coasters instead of napkins,because there was only a 1/4 yard of this print in my stash.

Love this print,it is how I imagine fall looks like further east,and someday plan on finding out for myself.

Crafting:

Have you seen those leaf bowls floating around the net?  The other day I decided to try and make one of my own.

It turned out pretty cute,even though I got the modge podge up a little higher than the leaves.  The little acorns inside the leaf bowl are made with pine cones Mr. P and I collected in the woods near our property.  I cut up some cheap washcloths and hot glued them from the tops of the pine cones almost all the way to the bottom.  Leaving just enough at the bottom,now the top,to make the cap,then hot glued a piece of dead branch to the center for the little stem part of the acorn.  Have you made any fall crafts?  This would be a good one to do with the kids,of course if they are smaller,you would want to do the hot glueing part for the acorns.

My finish for September ~ ALYOF

The Goal for this month was to pick a design from the Doodle Stitches book and try my hand at some embroidery.  Since I had not yet sent anything to my nephew for little Axton Rane,I decided now was the time.  So the design I chose was a little teddy bear.

Somewhere I had acquired a skein of variegated blue floss,so that is what was used for this first teddy bear.  He is a little wonky,but very cute and not half bad for a first attempt at embroidery!  I like him so much that I decided to do two more,one in brown and one black.  I hope to have those done soon.

August was my blog anniversary,but it slipped right by,as well as this month also.  Which led to the decision to celebrate a tad late :)  So...

My favorite time of year...& a little Giveaway

Today was the first day of fall!  Yes I am excited about that,as it is my favorite time of year :)  Even though it has rained all afternoon and evening.

This photo is from last year,as the aspens are just barely starting to turn color now.  In a few short weeks we will take a weekend and enjoy all of the beautiful fall color!

This evening I baked the first pie pumpkin of the season :)

Yesterday after the FM Mr. P and I got our craft on,and made up some pumpkins!  We were both super happy with how they turned out!  There are two different kinds in the photo.  The two top pumpkins are from this tutorial the canning ring pumpkin is from this tutorial where she calls them jar "lids" important if you are going to be making one or more of your own.  As the "lids"will Not work,you need the Rings.

Here are the three canning jar ring pumpkins that we made,Mr. P painted them orange.  Since I didn't want to buy anything we got creative and used things we had on hand.  For the stems we cut up one of my sunflower stalks that we recently pulled up.  It had already mostly dried out,so it worked great!  To take up the extra space around the stem,I used some very thin cardboard,folded and hot glued around the stem.  To hide the cardboard,I used (top left) the dried roots from the sunflower stalk (top right) dried weeds (bottom) yarn bits and pieces.

The leaves are from my craft supplies,normally used for my pinecone ornaments.  We have more projects in the works,when they are finished I will share them too.

I wanted to post the photo of Jamie and I at Fabric Fest,but I must have accidently deleted it :(  So here is a photo of Jamie working on her Big Stitch project instead :)

While we were there,she purchased and gave me some Clover Kanzashi Flower templates!!  As you can see I have been making a few! What,What ~ Traveling Stash Box....

Happy Friday all you Patch followers,readers,lurkers :)  I know,I know,the posts are few and far between lately.  They will start to pick up again soon,promise ;)

Although I did not have the pleasure of winning a Giveaway Day Prize per say,I did win one of these that week!!!

The fabric that was in the box when it arrived,the large piece in the foreground is an owl apron panel.

Notions,a mug rug with some sweet embroidery in the center,a large zippered pouch (laying flat in front of the mug rug),assorted trims,thread.

Quite an array of patterns and a quilt journal,for recording your quilt info about each quilt.

Rules and Guidelines 

• Be an active blogger -- post about receiving the box and the giveaway in a timely manner 
• Update the travel log in the box to let others know where the box has been.
• There is a list of rules and guidelines in the box -- be sure to follow these to keep the box full of quality items and the experience positive for everyone. 
• You may take any items from the box just be sure that you are replacing them with quality and comparable items. (Guidelines for fabric below) 
• Ship box to the next person timely -- and communicate tracking information with recipient.
• Shipping is within the US only  

Fabric and other item Guidelines 

• Fabric should be quilt shop quality and in new condition. Do not include items smaller than a fat quarter unless it falls into one of the other categories and these should be packaged together. 
• Jelly Roll -- 2.5 inch strips (typically 40 strips per set)
• Honey Buns -- 1.5 inch strips (typically 40 strips per set) 
• Desert Roll -- 10 strips 5 inches wide cut the length of the fabric 
• Turnovers -- 80 (6 inch) triangles
• Candy Squares  -- 2.5 inch squares (typically 45 squares per set) 
• Charms -- 5 inch squares (typically 40 squares per set)
• Layer Cake -- 10 inch squares (typically 40 squares per set)
• Patterns / Books should be in new or nearly new condition and should be kept to a minimum as this adds bulk and weight. 
• Other items should be new or gently used condition and should be packaged as necessary to ensure that all parts remain together. 

Important Things to Remember

• Please ensure that items in the box are quality. If items in the box are poor quality they should be removed. Items that are being removed can be offered for optional inclusion to the next recipient. Poor quality items can be discarded but this should be done with digression. 
• Only include items that you would be proud to own -- this is not a dumping ground for outdated or worn items
• Items should be free of smoke, odors  and pet hair 
• You must replace all items that you take with items of equal value and replacing with more than you take is welcome :)

I know there is a chop stick in the photo!  However it is larger in  diameter than the one I kept :)  A coin purse frame,some measuring tape trim and patterns.

On to my words...

The rules/guidelines for this hop were to use a word or words on fabric to describe ourselves and so let people get to know us better.  My inspiration came from seeing prayer flags on pinterest,you can read about the project here 

The first flag I made is the one on the left,with the word Believe,on the right is the second with the words Marine Mom,Here,and the square reads,Home is where the Heart is.  These two go hand in hand,which anyone who has a loved one in the Military knows all to well.  Especially when your loved one is deployed!  

The third and fourth flags...  "Life has no Blessing like a Good Friend" although I have not had many,because I have always been a little shy (which you would probably not guess if you just read my blog and have not met me in person) the ones I have are a True Blessing :) I used a few scraps to make the pinwheel center piece and hand wrote words that have to do with sewing.

Five,is made with buttons on scrap banners,another piece of scrap fabric that was attached with heat-n-bond,and fabric pens provided the color for flowers.  Six is yet another scrap with an antique sewing machine on it and the word quilter written in painters pen.

Seven,says Remember September-911 ~ Eight is in Remembrance of Sandy Hook
                           (These two speak for themselves)

Nine,is my favorite saying,since I am a the glass is half full girl and always try to keep a positive attitude :)  So there you have my words,which may or may not tell you something(s) you did not already know about me!

It has been so busy around here that I completely spaced off telling you about winning one of the Traveling Stash boxes!!!!  How is that even possible?

So today this was in the box patiently waiting for me!  Although I would have loved nothing better than  to open it a second after walking through the door,it had to wait until after dinner.
