my Tammy 4 all seasons

When I saw the post for the Tammy 4 all seasons post over at Sew We Quilt back in November I just Had to jump in…even though I had never so much as sewn one x stitch!

Before we get to my bag many thanks are in order though: Firstly Thank you to Mdm Samm for this wonderful hop,and for my new found skill (albeit the skill part is still questionable) the wonderful magnets, and my Tammy bag kit!
Thanks also to Mary for so graciously moving me to a later day in the hop,so I would have time to finish my cross stitch, and for being our head cheerleader!

Many thanks to All the wonderful sponsors including:
Brooke of Brooke's Books For all the Awesome cross stitch patterns
Cori of Chitter Chatter Designs For all the Sweet Pinny patterns
Apple Heart  Mdm Samm's shop for the Tammy Bag pattern
Beam N Read (LED light)
DMC (floss and Aida cloth)
H. A. KIDD (monaco fabric/cloth)
Readers  (reading glasses)
Snap Source (snaps and a gadget for attaching them)
Yarn Tree (Q snaps)

                     Thank You,Thank You,Thank You!

Since I was more than a bit nervous  about starting with the cross stitch, the Pinny came first.

The box pleats (the first time for making these) gave me a few fits, but nothing major.

When Mdm Samm said that it took her two weeks to finish her cross stitch/tammy bag I figured it would take me at least twice that amount of time.  Wrong!  It took me F O R ever.  Okay it only took me around six weeks…  Apparently I can not count,or count correctly anyway!  The ending result…

well just don't look too closely or you will see stitches where they should not be,no stitches where they should be...

Finally the day the hop started I finished my cross stitch!  Let me just say I was (and still am) Ecstatic!

On to the rest of the Tammy bag.  The handle was my only problem child, even though I measured and marked the center…you guessed it,I sewed it on crooked.  Sigh, ahh the challenges of sewing new to me patterns!

Since my DD and her hubby installed software upgrades and more memory to my computer for Christmas,I have not yet re-learned how to edit my photos.  So you can not read the label I added to the back of the bag. The label says "This Took FOREVER"   That being said,I am sooo in Love with my newest Bag finish and, yes,I will be doing more cross stitch in the future!  However, the next one(s) will not be on a schedule but rather when the mood strikes!

Okay I have gone on long enough about my Sweet new Tammy,Off you go to check out all the Wonderful Stitchers I have the pleasure of Sharing the day with!

T'was the night...

Before Christmas, and all through the house not a creature was stirring...

Except for the sewing mice!    What could be more perfect than a Blog Hop for Last minute gifts?  Yes The one and Only Madame Samm has once again out done herself!

Our Wonderful CheerLeader for this hop is Marlene from Stitchin By the Lake.  Had it not been for these two ladies I would probably been a sewing mouse again this year.  So I Thank both of you,Samm, for putting this hop together and Marlene, for being the perfect CheerLeader!

All the items created for this hop need to take only a few hours to make, from start to finish.  The first item on my list was a mini ipad case for a certain young lady who has been deployed and should be returning home to the states soon.  She loves purple...

The open wide zippered pouch from noodlehead.  For these I used some orphan blocks which made them an even quicker project to sew!  The one on the right was the first, and my measurements were just a bit off.  It still turned out cute though.

Stuck for ideas for those hard to sew/shop for guys on your list?  Why not make them a Tool Roll to hold all those wrenches and or screwdrivers?  I would recommend checking to see if your tools will fit before just marking the slots as directed in the tutorial.(ask me why;)  Since I did not have vinyl, this one is made with a fake leather exterior and some military fabric from my sons discarded Camos.

These fleece hats sew up super quick!  If you need a tutorial there is a great one here.

How about a stocking wine bottle gift "bag"?  Be sure to adjust the size for your bottle so that it will fit into the stocking!

Since this Hop is all about Gifts...

(Photo courtsey of Madame Samm!)

Being first on the hop had its perks, like this Sweet Cuppa Cozie Gift from Madame Samm herself! (complete with mug) She made me the perfect gift!  As I have a very bad habit of making myself a cuppa joe or cocoa, and then getting distracted...  I have used it quite often already and am enjoying it very much,as it keeps my mug/drink hot for quite some time.

Thank You so very much Samm, the gift is not only beautiful but, fits me to a T too!  I Love it.

Okay I have kept you long enough off you go to see what the lovely ladies  sharing the first day of the hop have whipped sewn up for you!

Cone Zone,For The Boys

Hello and Welcome to Day 5 of the For the boys blog hop!  A very special Thank You to Madam Samm, the brains behind this hop as well as Amy,our CheerLeader for this hop!  Without the two of you,we would not be sew inspired by all the creativeness we have seen so far :)))

This is the sneak peak,I showed my regular followers recently!  Did any of you guess what I had in the works??

Since this hop is about boys of all sizes and ages,I wanted to show you the container that stores my basting pins.  This belonged to my grandpa,he loved to have a smoke after dinner every night.  When he passed on,I requested and received a few of these containers to remember him by.  So now I think of him when basing my quilts :)  Yes my project for this hop is a quilt!

When thinking about what fabric to use for my project the construction print at the top, center, and bottom of the quilt came to mind.  It has been in my stash for about 14 years! High time it was used don't you think,me too ;)

The quilt kept slipping off of the equipment,so I finally had to fold it on the bucket in order to get a shot of the top row with the prairie points.  The pattern is called Fantasy Row,by Holly Draney for Sandra Workman of Pine Mountain Designs.

The name of this quilt is Cone Zone,it measures 45 x 54 and has brown Minky fabric on the back.  Which makes it a perfect nap time quilt!  Thank you for hopping by today to check out my boy project, now go visit all the other wonderfully creative bloggers who are sharing the day with me :)

In A Word Blog Hop (words 2 describe me)

Hey fellow hoppers, visitors, followers, lurkers, and stalkers...Welcome to my day to post some words about me :)

Firstly tho,a few words about Linda our Wonderful CheerLeader for this hop.  Without her organization and encouraging words, not to mention all of the inspiring tutorials she posted for us,I for one would have been a whole lot less Wordy ;)

Also a Big Shout Out to the One and Only Madame Samm who is always thinking on her feet, and coming up with the most wonderful ideas for these Blog Hops :)  Be sure to take a minute or 99... to hop on over and check out both of their blogs for oodles of Great Stuff!

Below is a list of links to all of the other lovely ladies who are also posting their own words today!  So Hop around to each blog for some Awesome Wordy Posts :)

On to my words...

The rules/guidelines for this hop were to use a word or words on fabric to describe ourselves and so let people get to know us better.  My inspiration came from seeing prayer flags on pinterest, you can read about the project here

The first flag I made is the one on the left, with the word Believe,on the right is the second with the words Marine Mom,Here, and the square reads,Home is where the Heart is.  These two go hand in hand, which anyone who has a loved one in the Military knows all to well.  Especially when your loved one is deployed!

The third and fourth flags...  "Life has no Blessing like a Good Friend" although I have not had many, because I have always been a little shy (which you would probably not guess if you just read my blog and have not met me in person) the ones I have are a True Blessing :) I used a few scraps to make the pinwheel center piece and hand wrote words that have to do with sewing.

Five,is made with buttons on scrap banners, another piece of scrap fabric that was attached with heat-n-bond,and fabric pens provided the color for flowers.  Six is yet another scrap with an antique sewing machine on it and the word quilter written in painters pen.

Seven, says Remember September-911 ~ Eight is in Remembrance of Sandy Hook
                           (These two speak for themselves)

Nine,is my favorite saying, since I am a the glass is half full girl and always try to keep a positive attitude :)  So there you have my words, which may or may not tell you something(s) you did not already know about me!

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of the Hop ;)

Everyone who comments will be entered to win a surprise giveaway!  I will reveal the winner and what they have won on Friday evening :)

Now,where did I leave those mittens??

Hey all,it was a busy sewing weekend around here!  How about at your house?  Even though I spent a lot of time sewing there is not much to show for it.  Why?  Well most of the rows in the Bee In My Bonnet Row along have micro pieces, and rows 7 & 8 were no exception.

Row 7 Fall Leaves, since I have not had the chance to start the photography class I purchased on Craftsy yet... the photos were taken outside today.  Which was the better choice anyway with the sun shining!

And what better place to take a photo of fall leaves, than in a tree?

Row 8 Winter Mittens, this is the highest/tallest row yet at 8 inches from bottom to top of the row!  What perfect weather for winter mittens.

I could not resist making one set of mis-matched mittens.  When the kids were little and wearing mittens,we always seemed to have a couple of mis-matched pairs around.  These two rows took up most of my sewing time this weekend, but on the up side,I am now caught up :)  Which is a very good thing since the next row will be posted on Thursday!

There was just enough time to squeeze in a couple of blocks for my mom's quilt!  Here is a block in blues, her favorite color.

The second one in lavender shades with a little pink in some of the prints.  All the fabrics will be from her stash.(out of the fabric I brought home last year)  So some of the colors will probably have some squares that are the same prints,as there are not 11 different shades/hues of each color.  However I am sure she will not mind.

I was going to add some of my goals sewing wise for the coming year, but have not had the time to sit down and write them out yet.  So that will be in another post down the road a bit.  I did join the two groups mentioned in yesterdays post  and for now that is enough on my plate, considering all of the things I want to accomplish/make.

The tough part will be not jumping in to join anything else!  At least not until I have finished half of the quilts/tops that are in different stages of progress already.

Hope you had a wonderful weekend, and have a great week too :)  Don't for get that tomorrow the

Blog Hop starts!  Have fun hopping along :)

Welcome 2013

Happy New Year everyone!  Hope you had a safe and happy day :)  Just the fact that I did not have to go to work today made it a great day!  What made it even better, spending pretty much the whole day in my sewing room!  Although not a stitch was sewn the entire time,it was a very productive day.

I am happy to say that my sewing room is now 65% ready to start off the New Year on the right foot.  First Mr. P and myself spent a good amount of time assembling this...

source
It is from Ikea, and went on my wish list last year when we visited the new store in Colorado.

Here it is all put together, with most of my stash!  Recently I had decided that the best way to start off the new year would be to get organized, not only in the sewing room, but through out the whole house.  Of course since my sewing room was a mess, and because Mr. P gave me this and some other cool organizing items for Christmas, this is the starting point.

In this photo you can see the top also.  These colored baskets were purchased a couple of years ago on clearance, they were two packs at a $1 a piece!  It is time to pull them out and use them!

A look at my sewing table/creative space, sorry the photos are so dark, but by the time I took them it was already dark outside, and since the organization is still in progress there is a cabinet blocking part of the lights.  Maybe this coming weekend I can get some better shots for you :)

Sometime this in the near future I will post about my planned projects/goals for this year sewing wise, anyway.

I have also been working on my contribution to the wordy blog hop (link below).  Which I will be posting about on the 14th!  Have a great rest of your week :)

Polka Dot Safari

Have you ever noticed how quickly time flies when you have a deadline to meet?  Crazy isn't it?!  Well time has flown right up to my day to post for the Dots On Dots Blog Hop !!!  It was a race to the finish this afternoon, but I made it :)

Firstly,A Monstrous Thank You to all the ladies behind the scenes,You Rock!!!

Secondly,Welcome everyone,Hoppers as well as Followers, and thank you for taking the time to stop in for a visit! :)

I knew from the moment of joining what my block would be,so why did it take me so long to get it done?  Good question, but I will not bore you with all my excuses......

Polka Dot Safari

A while before joining the Dots On Dots Hop I pinned this tutorial, the plan was to make a Birthday Card for Jolene (my daughter, for those of you new to my blog).  When I joined the hop,my plans changed!  I decided to make something with the block for her instead :)  (Yes sweetie this is for you,but you still have to wait until your "B" day to receive it)

The second block, not anywhere as near as challenging as the first one!  For this block, the scrap bin came in very handy ;)  The plan was to also make a tutorial,Sorry that didn't happen :(  Maybe down the road some,or you could just use the tutorial from the link above, which I did.

A peek inside the bag, yes, that is right the blocks are now transformed into a very cute little bag!

The bottom outside of the bag, here I used some of my Sugar and Spice (the aqua with red dots) and a charm square from a dot swap :)

Here is the finished Polka Dot Safari bag!  The plan was to take photos outside, but it got dark,so the sewing table had to do.

The second block is on the outside back of the bag.  The handles are made from the little scraps left over from making the trees on the front.

A side shot, which shows off the handles better :)  So there you have it,the Polka Dot Safari Bag :)  Hope you enjoyed your hop around my blog ;)

Be sure to Hop on over to the blogs listed below for more Polka Dot Goodness!!

Now for a little somethin somethin for all you peeps ;)

I will see if I can muster up some yummy fabric to go along with the above goodies :)  If you are a no reply blogger,Make Sure to leave me a way to contact you in your comment!!!

Enjoy Your Hopping! :)

PS.  Hope I got the scheduling right,as this is the first time ever for me to do that!
