Row,row,row...

Well,2013 is now officially half over.  Crazy,I know,before we know it December will be knocking on the door!  Saturday I had planned on working on BOM blocks,since it rained,that did not happen,but this did...

Remember my row quilt top?  Well it is a top no more :)  The first rain drops started to fall just as I finished packing up my F M booth.  What timing!  Anyway after a late lunch,and the sewing tables back in place,this was calling my name.

The back is a Joann's fabric called scallops,with the star row a little off set from the center.  At the bottom are the extra geese,as somehow that row ended up with too many!  The binding is made up of scraps from the quilt front,and also the backing fabric.

I am so happy to have this one finished,as it is mine All Mine :@)

Yesterday,was spent in the kitchen and the garden.  Here are the fruits of my kitchen labor!  The four jars at the back are Rhubarb and blue-raspberry (blueberry/raspberry) jam,sounds out there but is really yummy.  The four shorter jars at the front are Strawberry Marmalade,a first for me.  Of course I had to add my own twist to it!

Instead of oranges and lemons,it has lemons and limes,in place of the water the reserved juice from cooking down the rhubarb was added,and to take it over the top fresh French Tarragon from the garden.  A party in your mouth!

On the left is my French Tarragon,on the right Mexican Tarragon.  There are also two sweet peppers in between,also harvested but not pictured...lettuce,swiss chard a bit of lavender,mint,kale,and a couple peas.  Which will probably be all we get as the deer wreaked havoc in the garden one day this last week :(  Thank goodness they were picky and left the majority for us!

April Edition of ALYOF

Here we are in the first week of April already!  So of course this post is all about my goals sewing wise for this month.  When thinking about what projects to work on this month,I took into consideration my plans for the farmers market this summer.

April Goals:
Finally make the OOORah Wallet (purchased over a year ago) for myself and more to sell both in my shop and at the market.

My only other "finish" goal is to get all the rows for the row along quilt sewn together and quilted.  The backing,binding and total finish is not included in the "finish"goal,so it may or may not happen this month.  Of course I plan on working on things to sell,but am not including those as finish goals.  That way I will not feel pressured,and it will be more fun for me.

Everything else that I am able to accomplish this month will just be the be the gravy over the potatoes ;)

Row 13 ~ Spring Tulips

They say "all good things must end" and the bee in my bonnet row along is no exception.  It doesn't seem like that long ago we were starting off on the very first row...

And here we are with the last row,Spring Tulips :0)  Don't you just love them all blooming in spite of the crazy snow ;0)

Not sure about you,but I am ready for spring,whenever it finally decides to show up around here!

This afternoon I brought all the rows out to the living room to decide on the final layout.  After quite a bit of row shuffling,and the much appreciated help and suggestions from Mr. P.  this is the layout we finally decided on!
Now I still have to add the two borders,quilt,back and bind it too.  However,since we are so close to the end of this month,this is going to get set aside.   Not for long tho!  It will be my goal for next month over at ALYOF :0)

I have been pretty busy this past week,with this and also sewing up the things for the bake/craft sale.  Which is this coming Saturday!  Those things will be another post in the next few days.  Now I need to get busy with my last goal,totes for my store!

Last night I sewed up barn # 2,this one is kinda whimsical,so it may become a bag!  If it does,I will need to make another one to take its place in the quilt.

First up the sewing...

Row # 12 ~ sewing baskets ~  Although with this being Easter month,I am calling mine Easter Baskets!

All twelve rows,this is going to be such a sweet quilt!

I should have titled this post Lori Made me Do it!  I subscribe to her blog,and so get her posts directly in my email box.  When this post showed up I was hooked,and after printing out the tutorial,ran (really) to my sewing room to make my first barn attend my first ever barn raising ;0)  Want to make some of your very own?  It is only one barn every other week,very doable right?  Right!

No more waiting for the perfect project for my sew mama sew charm pack!  Since the quilts on the sides of the barns are 6.5 inch squares  this will work great!

My bee blocks for this month are churn dash,which surprisingly enough,were a first time to make for me!

Although Green is my favorite color,the first block is my absolute favorite of the two,now if I just knew what the paisley print was... would love more of it.

Lastly,but certainly not least,my second pin cushion for my swap partner,Shanna !  This is one of my pins that I can mark off as made :0)  Even though it looks pretty complicated,it really wasn't.  The hard part for me was finding the candle stick!

Hey all,it was a busy sewing weekend around here!  How about at your house?  Even though I spent a lot of time sewing there is not much to show for it.  Why?  Well most of the rows in the Bee In My Bonnet Row along have micro pieces,and rows 7 & 8 were no exception.

Row 7 Fall Leaves,since I have not had the chance to start the photography class I purchased on Craftsy yet... the photos were taken outside today.  Which was the better choice anyway with the sun shining!

And what better place to take a photo of fall leaves,than in a tree?

Row 8 Winter Mittens,this is the highest/tallest row yet at 8 inches from bottom to top of the row!  What perfect weather for winter mittens.

I could not resist making one set of mis-matched mittens.  When the kids were little and wearing mittens,we always seemed to have a couple of mis-matched pairs around.  These two rows took up most of my sewing time this weekend,but on the up side,I am now caught up :)  Which is a very good thing since the next row will be posted on Thursday!

There was just enough time to squeeze in a couple of blocks for my mom's quilt!  Here is a block in blues,her favorite color.

The second one in lavender shades with a little pink in some of the prints.  All the fabrics will be from her stash.(out of the fabric I brought home last year)  So some of the colors will probably have some squares that are the same prints,as there are not 11 different shades/hues of each color.  However I am sure she will not mind.

I was going to add some of my goals sewing wise for the coming year,but have not had the time to sit down and write them out yet.  So that will be in another post down the road a bit.  I did join the two groups mentioned in yesterdays post  and for now that is enough on my plate,considering all of the things I want to accomplish/make.

The tough part will be not jumping in to join anything else!  At least not until I have finished half of the quilts/tops that are in different stages of progress already.

I have something to "Crow"about (pun intended)

Hey all,hope you are having a sewing weekend :)  Mr. P had to work half a day today,so,I went to sew first thing this morning!  The project at hand was row #6 for the Bee in my Bonnet Row Along

Can I interest you in a nice hot cup/mug of cocoa?

If you want a twist I also have Mint hot chocoa,although it is pretty minty,so I hope you like mint.  This is my fave brand of hot chocolate,maybe because it is gourmet (whatever that means),all I know is it sure is g o o d :)  especially on those freezing cold fall/winter nights we have here.

Since this row is hot cocoa mugs,I decided not to take the photos outside.  Then my challenge was how to shoot them inside... I think that they turned out really good,for inside photos!

A close up of my inspiration for this row.  This little mug is what I enjoy my cocoa in every evening during the cold months!  Hope you enjoyed my little mugs :)  (all of the fabric in this row is from mom's stash)

While typing up this post I realized that I still need to take a photo of all six rows,oops!

Row 5 ~ Baby Flying Geese !

These little,or maybe I should say Micro geese blocks took me much longer than anticipated!  Each block measures in at 1 1/2" x 2 1/2 "unfinished!

Here are some of the little guys all flying around on my design board :)

Check out this gaggle of baby honkers!  I ended up making more than required for the row(not sure how that happened) so plan on using the extras for the back of the quilt.

About half an hour before I went outside to snap a few photos of these little guys,it was blowing and snowing like crazy!  When I got outside,there was barely a whisper of a breeze,and it had quit snowing.

My plan was to get a shot of my baby geese getting in some flying practice!  This was the best I could do.  You can just see some snow dust on the steps at the right of the photo :)

Back inside,where it is toasty a toasty 65(our high temp today was 28)!  Here are all five rows that I have completed so far.  Row 6 is up,so I need to get busy on it,although it should go a lot quicker since it is the same size as the apples and butterflies :)

I also finally finished up my fall Rock Garden flag today :)  Of course I had to add some geese and since I was on a roll with the babies,that is what is flying across the bottom of the flag!

The backside is a patchwork print in fun fall colors :)  Just had time to snap these photos before dusk crept in on us.

This is one of two blocks I made for quilts for victims of Sandy,it is a disappearing 4 patch.

The second one,the fabric requested was florals,with a print that would read as a solid.  This was the first time making this block,but won't be the last :)

Now I am going to try and get a couple blocks done for Karen over at Hazel Dell Quilts These will be Wonky Scrappy Log Cabin blocks,if you have a few minutes why not whip up a couple yourself?
