ALYOF March Mid ~ Month check in

Yes it is that time again, already!  Are you playing along, and if so,how are you doing?

My three goals for the month were...

1. to finish my tumbler quilt started last summer  (which has been named International Tumblers)

Here it is!  All finished,as of last night!  This and the following photos were snapped off in a hurry today after work as the wind was is still blowing like crazy here.

A closer shot of my first ever FMQ on a quilt!!  Pretty excited about that :0)

The wind just about blew the quilt off the fence right as I was taking this one.  I am hoping to get some much better shots between now and the end of the month.

2. make a few items to donate to the bake/craft sale... no progress on this one but I will be starting on that after this post :0)

3. make some new tote/messenger bags for my shop... also no progress yet, those will be next up after the things to donate.

Tumblers & LilyPad Splash Progress

Saturday was a snow day here, although it snowed steadily for over half the day it did not amount to more than a couple of inches.  This morning the sun came out and melted what was left away.  Love those spring snows :0)

Most of Saturday I spent taking photos and listing some new things in my etsy shop, and re-listing some that had expired.  So no sewing.  Today after weekly chores I found some time to sew :0)

Here is the progress on my Tumbler Quilt so far this month.  You probably can't tell from the photo, but at that point (when the photo was taken) the rows/strips were not sewn together.  Now they are all sewn together, the length is around 80 inches, while the width of the quilt top is only around 48 inches.

So I decided that it has to have another border on each side to bring it out to around 60 inches wide, when finished.  The Sweet thing is that I was able to FMQ on the strips!!!  Mind you it is not pretty, but I am okay with that, since it was my first time ever to use that technique on anything other than a 18 x 18 practice sandwich square, and that was only one time.

Sorry I didn't get a photo to show the progress on the LilyPad Splash quilt top :(  That is what I decided to call the quilt I posted about here the other day.  All the strips are pinned to the batting, and one has been quilted too.  When the other two strips are quilted and sewn together I will post an update with photos.

Hope you all found some time to sew this past weekend :0)

March Edition of (ALYOF)

The first two months have just zipped by us!  So here we are again posting about what our goals are for the current month.

My quilt finish goal for this month is the tumbler quilt that I started last summer, and need to get finished.

The second and goal is a few (not going to specify a number) items for our craft/bake sale at the end of the month for the,Climb to Conquer,Cancer Hike.  We have at least one(but most times two) teams that hike every year to raise money.  This year we decided to not to limit ourselves to just baked goods at our sale.

My third and last goal is to get some new tote and or messenger bags made up,for my shop, and also for the space I plan to have at the local Farmers Market this summer.

Thats it for this month, wish me luck!  Linking up over at Melissa's :0)

WIP

Is it really Wednesday already?  Actually it is almost Thursday already!  This week it has really started to feel like late spring/early summer here :)  It has also been Super windy every afternoon/evening,which means no outside photos.  So tonight I decided to just take a few pics inside :(

Last month at my quilt guild we had a tumbler block swap!  Each person who participated brought 100 7 x 7 inch squares to the meeting.  During the meeting they were all cut on an Accu Quilt go cutter!  So cool!  When the meeting was over we each had 100 tumbler blocks to take home :)

This week I managed to sew all the tumblers into rows, and this evening started sewing the rows together. I wanted to break all the tumblers up a little, plus add a little extra length.  So decided to add a white strip between the rows.  The thought was to make it look kind of like tumblers on a cupboard shelf.

Also in progress this week is the top for my Gothic Windows quilt.  There are actually 4 rows of blocks sewn together.  I just didn't want to take the time to clip up the rest.  If/when we have a nice wind free evening where some photos can be taken outside, they will be posted, until then this will have to do.

The third work in progress this week is my Sassy Connie bag!  With the exception of the handles everything is cut out!  The plan is to get this finished this weekend.

Two string blocks, using some of my Sugar and Spice fabric... Love ;)

Lastly,a photo of one of the cactus plants in my rock garden.  Last year there were only a couple of blooms.  This year there were six!

Linking up with freshly pieced this week :)
