Time to Remember

On this Memorial Day Weekend,no matter where you are,or what you are doing... Please take a moment to Remember and thank those that Have Served/Are Serving (Sacrificing).  So that we can enjoy the Freedom to Celebrate (among other things).

Thank You Gilbert Rodriguez,Lee Morris, and Robert Keeling for your Service & Sacrifices,so that I might enjoy the Freedoms I enjoy Daily.

Yesterday we had a visitor in one of the Aspen trees, after a couple of failed attempts at a photo, this beauty finally held still long enough for a photo.

It takes a Manly Man to carry a clutch ;)  This afternoon I worked on testers for my nice's bridesmaids.  Since I had to use the flash for this photo, the colors are washed out :(  The photo I sent from my phone this afternoon still has not showed up in my email)

She asked for linen, but is open to other fabrics.  So since the linen in my stash is not going to work I thought I would see if home dec fabric would work.  It does, but the seams are a bit bulky,so we shall see what she thinks after being able to inspect them up close.

A little produce bag, which is a perfect item for the Farmers Market!  Of course I had to start off with some veggie fabric.

This one is large enough to hold a small net bag of lemons,I am thinking of making them in differing sizes.

Of course I sewed some other things this week but, those are a secret!  Until June 4th,which is my day to post for the "say it with Flowers" blog hop!  (button on my side bar)

re ~useable grocery bags

Looking for the Stash Box Giveaway?  Just scroll down the the previous post,it will be open until Wednesday evening :)

This topper was quilted with simple straight line quilting.  For the binding I picked some green and grey and threw in a couple DS scraps too.

This quarter over on FB we are swapping re ~ useable shopping bags.  This was my first tester,I purchased the pattern from michellepatterns.com It was an easy to follow pattern, and sewed up in a jiffy!

My second (and favorite one) was a Free Tutorial This one kicked my butt, not because it is hard to sew.  The fault was all mine!  I cut the lining two inches short of the requirements, oops!  Took me a while to figure out where I went wrong.  Once the measurements were corrected it went together like a breeze :)

The March blocks for the Pile O Fabric BOM are completed but,I accidentally deleted them!  So will show them to you in another post.

A few blocks

This month over at Stash Bee we were asked to make a X or Cross block using bright pink prints...

The requirements were to make blocks in 3"increments,6.5,9.5,or 12.5 square.  There was also the option to make rectangle blocks.  If making a 6.5 block we were asked to make two.  The one on the left is 6.5 square, the one on the right side is a 6.5 x 9.5 block.  I loved that these were so easy and quick to sew up!

Barn # 5,this one was so hard to get a good shot of because it is dark and the sky's are grey this afternoon/evening.

Barn # 6,for this one I decided to change it up a bit!  The barn quilt is a John Deere tractor print.  The roof is also a John Deere print.  The only Sew Mama Sew fabrics in this block are the background pieces at the top.

Hope all you mom's had a wonderful Day yesterday :)

Table Toppers

Are you all enjoying the Blog Hopping for Giveaway Day?  Personally I think the best part is all the new friends to make/meet,and all the new blogs to follow!

Just thought I would put up a quick post before heading off to bed.

Can you tell that it was a grey day here?  No matter how I tried this is the best photo of all the ones I took :(  So I will be sure to take another one when this table runner is finished.  Since I love sunflowers,I made this one long,so there would not be any temptation to keep it.  My table is square, and this measures 16ish x 64ish.

This one is getting named DayGlow Coffee, because the colors just really pop out!  This fabric was left over from when I made my sis a quilt two or three years ago.

Number three,X squared.  As you can probably see they all still need to be quilted, but that will have to wait until the weekend.  Since I am out of batting again!

There wasn't much time for sewing this evening,so this and one other mini tote are done :)  They measure about 4x4x2,a perfect size for a goodie bag at a party,or to give small gift!

Hope you are having a wonderful week so far...

ALYOF May Edition

When thinking about what goals (sewing wise) to set for this month,I was kind of in a quandary.  Since I am not sure exactly what projects to include...

Goals:

  • get caught up on my BOM blocks (not including the quilting) 4 blocks to make
  • make the tester for my niece's bridesmaids clutches ~ get it sent to her for approval
  • barn block # 5 & keep current with 6 & 7 when they are posted
  • get FB swap (grocery bag) for this quarter done
As far as my projects for the farmers market, since I am not decided as to exactly what all I will be making this month, those will all just be "projects" this month instead of goals.

Since I do not have any photos for my goals...how about a few photos of the gift that my mom will be receiving for Mothers Day.

Mom loves trains,so when I came across this book,I knew it would make a great Mothers Day gift for her!  All the quilts have to do with the railroad era,so she is sure to love it.

Since she has a train quilt planned for herself, this book should come in quite handy :)

She is sure to find at least a few blocks to add into her quilt!

In other bloggy news, are you planning to participate in the 10th annual May Giveaway Day?

It starts at 6am PST May 6 2013!  You can find more info over atSew Mama Sew .  I will be participating, but will not get my post up until sometime after work tomorrow.

Will try to get back mid week to show you the table toppers/runners I have been working on :)  Hope you had a wonderful weekend!
