Mug Rug

So after seeing some really nice mug rugs on the web I decided to try to make one myself.  Having picked out a few scraps and a backing piece, I got busy sewing.  This is the finished product (above)
It turned out good except for the binding, which I always have issues with grrr!
So could Someone PLEASE tell me the secret to working with binding?

  1. Well, I've never really had much to do with binding. Can't help you there. These are cool and placemat looking. My grandma used to make really complicated circle ones but yours look easier and use up leftover fabric. Seems like a 'green' practice to me!

  2. Oh those are OREO'S!! They looked like flowers or something in the corner. Is there a batting lining in the middle?

  3. Thank you for all of your sweet comments :)
Yes there is warm & natural batting in the middle, also from my scrap bag!
It is hard to see the OREO'S, but they were the only cookies we had!
