Now,where did I leave those mittens??

Hey all,it was a busy sewing weekend around here!  How about at your house?  Even though I spent a lot of time sewing there is not much to show for it.  Why?  Well most of the rows in the Bee In My Bonnet Row along have micro pieces,and rows 7 & 8 were no exception.

Row 7 Fall Leaves,since I have not had the chance to start the photography class I purchased on Craftsy yet... the photos were taken outside today.  Which was the better choice anyway with the sun shining!

And what better place to take a photo of fall leaves,than in a tree?

Row 8 Winter Mittens,this is the highest/tallest row yet at 8 inches from bottom to top of the row!  What perfect weather for winter mittens.

I could not resist making one set of mis-matched mittens.  When the kids were little and wearing mittens,we always seemed to have a couple of mis-matched pairs around.  These two rows took up most of my sewing time this weekend,but on the up side,I am now caught up :)  Which is a very good thing since the next row will be posted on Thursday!

There was just enough time to squeeze in a couple of blocks for my mom's quilt!  Here is a block in blues,her favorite color.

The second one in lavender shades with a little pink in some of the prints.  All the fabrics will be from her stash.(out of the fabric I brought home last year)  So some of the colors will probably have some squares that are the same prints,as there are not 11 different shades/hues of each color.  However I am sure she will not mind.

I was going to add some of my goals sewing wise for the coming year,but have not had the time to sit down and write them out yet.  So that will be in another post down the road a bit.  I did join the two groups mentioned in yesterdays post  and for now that is enough on my plate,considering all of the things I want to accomplish/make.

The tough part will be not jumping in to join anything else!  At least not until I have finished half of the quilts/tops that are in different stages of progress already.

These are the UFO's that I plan to get totally finished this year!  That being said..there are also other things that I will be adding as the year goes along.  The first one being,a Granny Squares quilt for my Mom!  Which has yet to be started,and needs to be totally finished by the end of January!   So that will obviously be my first project.  There is also my In Your Words Blog Hop (button on my sidebar) but since that is 90% done I am not counting it for this month :)

There is also my bee block for Stash Bee that needs to be done,and I have set a goal to list at least a few (have not decided on the exact number yet) new items in my shop each month.  Also this month,I want to make a weaved rug for our bathroom.  Which is essentially strips attached to a bath mat,and then more strips woven between and sewn.  There are a myriad of other items,but I won't bore you with a mile long list right now :)  Wish me Luck !

On that note,I am off to sew up rows 7 & 8 which will catch me up in the Bee In My Bonnet RAL :)

Welcome 2013

Happy New Year everyone!  Hope you had a safe and happy day :)  Just the fact that I did not have to go to work today made it a great day!  What made it even better,spending pretty much the whole day in my sewing room!  Although not a stitch was sewn the entire time,it was a very productive day.

I am happy to say that my sewing room is now 65% ready to start off the New Year on the right foot.  First Mr. P and myself spent a good amount of time assembling this...

It is from Ikea,and went on my wish list last year when we visited the new store in Colorado.

Here it is all put together,with most of my stash!  Recently I had decided that the best way to start off the new year would be to get organized,not only in the sewing room,but through out the whole house.  Of course since my sewing room was a mess,and because Mr. P gave me this and some other cool organizing items for Christmas,this is the starting point.

In this photo you can see the top also.  These colored baskets were purchased a couple of years ago on clearance,they were two packs at a $1 a piece!  It is time to pull them out and use them!

A look at my sewing table/creative space,sorry the photos are so dark,but by the time I took them it was already dark outside,and since the organization is still in progress there is a cabinet blocking part of the lights.  Maybe this coming weekend I can get some better shots for you :)

Sometime this in the near future I will post about my planned projects/goals for this year sewing wise,anyway.

Holiday Park & Christmas Tree Mountain

Ready or not,Christmas is literally right around the corner!  I hope you are all ready,and have a wonderful Holiday with family and/or friends :@)

Last year I had planned on posting about a Christmas Tradition in the town where I live,somehow that post never happened....so a year later here it is...

The largest park in town is right on the Arkansas River,and aptly named Riverside Park.  However during the Holidays (from the Friday night after Thanksgiving,until just after the first of the New Year) it is also known as Holiday Park!

This tree is decorated with miniature crocheted hats.

A Patriotic tree,all decked out in flags.  This view is looking back up the walkway towards the entrance of the park.

 This tree is decorated with plastic candy canes and cupcakes.

Electrical switch plates that have been decorated with red paint. Stand out from the other decorations on this tree.

This photo is taken at about the halfway point on the walkway,you can just see Mr. P checking out the decorations on one of the trees.

This is one of the trees that is a memorial to a loved one.  There are numerous photos of a solider decorating this tree.

A tree with handmade sheep decorations all over.

How about a tree that is decorated with non other than real skis!  Goes perfectly with the snow on the ground.

The angel adorning the top of this tree is made from a re-cycled Dr. pepper soda bottle.

As you can see the trees line both sides of the walkway,down to this spot where there are usually flowers surrounding the tree behind the sign that is there now.  The trees also continue around this center part,and also the outer circle.

The sign reads:

Christmas Tree Mountain:  Every year after the Parade of Lights (also on the Friday evening after Thanksgiving) ends in downtown Salida,Santa flips the switch and Christmas Tree Mountain once again lights up for the Holiday season!  The heart and the S in the photo below are there all year round.
