Sew now that summer has ended and fall is here it is time to
post an update on my summer projects list and see what I was
able to get accomplished.

I still want to find the time to make more of these,I am thinking
maybe a set for someones up-coming birthday!

My Max & Whiskers quilt
Finished.

Here is a photo of the entire top.
This was my first quilt from the book
Modern Basics.

Not on my list, because at the time the list was made
I didn't know which quilts we would be making for
each month.
My finished Knotted Squares quilt top.
I Love how this one turned out :)

Next up my Abby Bag.
Finished.
This bag is really cute and functional too!
It is great for small scraps and bits of thread.

Zippy Strippy bags
Finished.
These turned out super cute. I am thinking that these would
fit great in a stocking!

My lunch bag, which I forgot to add to the original list.
It works great by the way!
This one is mine, and I love it :)

The last sewing project that I also forgot to add to the list.
This is the very first apron that I made!
Am still undecided about keeping it or giving it as a gift?

Next are solar lights that I made using some glass coffee mugs
that I found while thrifting, for 25 cents apiece!
I just love the pattern they cast.

Here is a better view of the mugs.

My set of solar lights for the 4th of July.

Yet another bunch of solar lights.

My Mason Jar Bird feeder.
One of my most if not The most popular post!

My mug rug for the swap I joined  at Sewhappygeek
this is the front side.  My photo loaded upside down,
sorry :(

The back side.

Next up are a couple of things that I made for Stashtactular
This is my new clothespin keeper.

I pod case
Although since my car was broken into this summer
I no longer own either the case or the I pod :(

My Modern V quilt top,Still need to get this
one sandwiched and quilted/bound.

An owlie bag!
This is the block that I decided to have my bee mates make
for my month in the Sew Bee Blissful quilting bee I joined :)
Can't wait to see all the blocks!

These next bags Have been on my "Want to sew" list for quite
some time!
Finally go to them the last week of summer :)

I decided to use some metal bobbins that do not work in my
Janome sewing machine that I purchased a couple years ago.
These were from the sewing machine I replaced.

Sew over all I did a pretty god job of checking things off my projects
list for the summer!
Me thinks that I need to make one for fall,as this was a great way to keep
me motivated!

Sew a Big Thank you to Sarah over at FariyFace Designs for the
great and fun summer long Linky party!

Finished Abby bag and quilt progress

My Abby bag is finished, which means that my
summer projects list is complete!
I had thought about making an amended
or updated summer project list.  However
since my mom & dad are coming next week
and staying for 2 weeks I decided not to.

Here is a better photo of the main part of the
bag.
I am also going to be making a apron with
the same fabrics,as I had enough to make
both projects :)
Love how this turned out.

This is a much better picture of the top/pincushion part of
the bag.
The pattern calls for a button in the center, which I used.
But I covered it up with a silk flower,my own little touch
to this bag :)

The pattern instructions were great for the first part of the bag.
There were illustrations along with the the written instructions,
but about half way through its like the person writing it just
got in a rush to finish.
No illustrations for the second half of the bag,and the
written instructions were confusing to boot!
Had to look online for a tutorial so that I could finish!

This is the block placement that I decided on for  my Knotted
Squares quilt.
I had to move the kitchen table into the living room so that I
could use my kitchen design floor  :)

The lighting outside was Way to bright and it
was windy too.  So I had to snap a quick pic
while it was calm.

A close up of my blocks.

EEk! I ran out of White Thread!!!

So the plan was to get All of my blocks sewed together
this evening.  That is until I suddenly realized that I am Totally
out of white thread!  Grrr!
This is how far I got this evening,2 blocks finished and one more
half way done.

So I thought about making some of the things from Stashtactular
since I haven't made anything from the tutorials yet!

But......

Decided that first I should finish up my summer projects list,
as this is the last project on it!

This is how far I was able to get this evening.
(sorry about the shadow)
I added my own touch by putting a silk flower in the middle
of the pincushion,on top of the button!

summer projects update

In May I joined up with FairyFace Designs to do a summer
projects list.  Here is my Mid-Summer update.

These are the apple squares that I planned to make coasters
out of,all finished.

Sprocket pillows were another project on my list.
Here they are all finished.  These were very fun to make
and I plan on making more in the future.
Next is my Max & Whiskers quilt.

I wanted to take a picture of
it outside today, but it was raining.  So here is a close-up of part
of it.

This is the last finished project.
The Zippy Strippy bags/pouches.
These were also fun to make, except for adding the zipper!

I also finished a whole lot more that was not on my list.  If you remember
that I recently had a booth at a craft sale.  Most of the things that I
took to sell I made this last month also!

The only thing that was on my original "List" that I haven't yet
finished is the Abby Bag.  So not to shabby for only being Mid way
though :)
Guess I need to make another List for the remainder of the summer :)
Coming up soon!
Linking up to FairyFace Designs  Mid-Summer check in.

summer project update

This evening after work I decided that it was time to take a
little break from all of my craft fair sewing.
This Zippy Strippy bag pattern was on my list of things to
do this summer.  So I pulled it out and got to work with the
one thing that always takes me the longest,in almost all of
my projects.  Picking out the fabrics that I want to use!
Of course they all came from the scrap bin :)
My favorite is the owl pouch, and then the lady bug is
second.

What I absolutely did Not like how the zipper is put in with
this pattern.  So am going to have to figure out a better way
the next time I make these.
They are all the small size,so that I could use up some
scraps :)
Maybe next time I will try the medium & large sizes.

Max & Whiskers Finally finished!!

My quilt sandwich all pined on the kitchen floor.

Ta Da!  I so wanted to take a picture of the finished quilt
outside today.  However the wind was so bad that it was
not happening :(
So I had to settle for a pic on the bed.

Here is a close-up.
I am soo happy with how my binding turned out!  This is the first
Ever time that I can say that :)
It is not perfect by  any matter of means, that being said it is as
close to perfect as I have ever come!
The corners look pretty good and there aren't any spots where I
didn't catch the binding when sewing it on the back!
Yay!!!

This is the back side.
I just did straight line quilting.
When I was making the blocks for the front side of the quilt I
somehow made one too small.  I wanted to incorporate into
the quilt.  Finally the thought occurred to me to use it on the
back side.
So I cut it in half and then used a decorative stitch to sew them
on the backing in opposite corners.

This is the top left side (for some reason both
of these pictures came out sideways in the post)
I sewed a M on it for Max!

This is the bottom right corner.
This one has a W sewed on  for whiskers!
Now I can check this off of my summer projects
list :)

May Day Giveaway on May 23rd

an eager participant!

I am planing on being a Giveaway Host,so will post
about what I am going to giveaway tomorrow,Thursday May 19th

This evening I was able to finish sewing together the top of
my Max & Whiskers quilt.  I am going to try to get the binding
all sewed together tomorrow after work,we will see how that
goes!

Here is a close-up!  I wanted to take a picture outside,but it
is windy and raining.  So had to use the bed instead.
I am hoping that my batting arrives by Saturday so that I can
work on it this weekend.

On another note, I am soooo bummed because the things
that I sent to my mom for Mothers Day never arrived!!
So I think that I am going to make duplicates and resend them :(
Although now I am a little Leary about sending them again!
