A little Pause...

No I didn't fall off the edge of blog land!  However since my machine is in dire need of a trip to the sewing machine "doctor" I have been taking a little breather/pause,before jumping into 2014 with both feet.

Recently I had a request for a custom order of napkins like the set I made way back in 2011!  The above set is the same except that the fabric on the back sides are different prints.  My customer, also requested a set 13 x 13.

After several different test napkins,Wendy chose to have solids that coordinate with the center colors.

I am happy with how they turned out,and glad that Wendy is really happy with them too!

For the back sides I used a print to coordinate with the colors on the front.

Right before Christmas I finished up my Big Stitch pillow project started at Fabric Fest!  It was a gift to a friend at work.  Her favorite color is purple, and although this is not truly a purple, she loved it anyway!

Hope you all had a Wonderful Christmas with family and friends, and Wishing you a Happy and Prosperous New Year :)

(my machine is scheduled to be serviced on New Years day,so I will be back shortly thereafter)

new throw pillows & couch cover

This is the before picture.

And this is the after picture!
This is the first (of many,I hope) finished project
on my vacation week.

I like all three of the new throw pillows.  This one is the same
pillow as in the before picture.  I just made a new cover for it.
This is my pillow, it is a down pillow that I folded in half and
stuffed inside a zippered cover.  It is great for supporting my
lower back!

A close-up of the other throw pillow.  These are 16x16
throw pillows that I made a pillow case for and then, a
sleeve which is pulled over the case and tied with added
ties.  This way the pillow case and the sleeve can be washed!
I also added two yo yo's with a coordinating bead hot glued
in the center.

Pink Panther throw pillows & song bird flower pots

These throw pillows were so much fun to make!  I had the two different
fabrics in my stash, and had been thinking of what to make using the
Pink P fabric.  While looking through my fabric the pink & brown floral
print just jumped out!
I didn't plan to use them together, but they make a perfect pair!  I added
coordinating buttons to the centers of the yo yo's used for the straps.
After spend the morning outside doing some spring yard work,
I came inside to work on these flower pots.
A few months ago I made my mom some shopping bags with this
song bird print.  The leftover scraps were a great way to add a
decorative touch to these plain flower pots!
I just cut them to the right size and then Modge Podged them on!

Throw Pillows

These two pillows I made for my Sis!  She is a Tea drinker,
and although these are actually coffee cups, they could also
be tea cups!
The T blocks are included because her nickname is T.
I hope that she loves them!  Soon there will be a lap quilt
that goes with these.

Isn't this pillow too darn cute!  The striped fabric is a small
pillow case that is made to fit a throw pillow.  There are several
inches of overlap that are tucked in on the end that does not
have the ties.
Then the outer sleeve is placed over the striped pillow case.
Then the ties are tied!
So you can wash the case & sleeve, or switch them out for a
different set when you want a change!
