Fabric Fest Swag

In one of the emails from the coordinator for Fabric Fest, there was a hint about Swag...

Upon arriving and registering, each person received a bag like this, stuffed with goodies,brochures,magazines...

As well as all these sweet goodies!  At each meal/place on the tables there were decorative squares of paper and or fabric with sayings on them!  (three of mine are in the photo)

Tuesday morning my class was with Sue Daley, she taught us how to make hexagons. (1/2")  We cut the pieces, glued them to the papers, and then sewed them.  I am a slow hand sewer, and was only able to finish one flower during the class.

The afternoon class was Big Stitch, where we worked on pillows.  I will post photos when mine is finished.

Wednesday morning I took a class on using up scraps, this is the basket/box we made in class.  We sewed four 6 inch pieces together (I alternated the pieces) for the outside and four for the inside, then attached the bottom squares.  It turned out pretty cute!

The afternoon class I chose to take on Wednesday was Lori Holt's Candy Beads Quilt ! Using her circle rulers.  BTW sometime in the near future I will be giving away a set of these!

Here are the circles I was able to finish during class.  There are 60 circles total,so I need to make another 28,fourteen each of the medium and large size.

Lori Holt and me :))))  Standing in front of her finished Candy Beads Quilt.  Although you can not tell from the photo, the background color is a pale aqua.

Quilts from the Fashion Show Wednesday night:

These are not all of them, just the ones I was able to get a good photo of.  I did not get any of the clothing, because everyone walked so fast!

What Happens in Vegas...

In my last post,I said that it was time for a little break.  That break started on Monday when I clocked out at lunch time.  From there it was a three hour trip to the airport.  An hour or so after my scheduled flight(due to severe thunder, lightening and hail) we finally boarded the plane...

                                                                           source

This is where I finally ended up! (after more delays)  Since my arrival was so delayed,I missed the Meet and Greet for Riley Blake's Fabric Fest.  However, from then on things only got better and better!  Jamie from busy bee quilts was patiently waiting for me when I finally stepped out of the taxi!!!

After dropping my bags off at our room (all the way at the end of the hall) we headed over to the shop.
Just a Warning,Lots of Photos below...

This quilt has snowmen,so of course I had to snap a shot off of it!

Love how the bright chevrons just pop out from the grey background fabric of this quilt.

How about some pretty chevron flowers?

These boots are made for walking, this would make a great little boy quilt.

A new take on Little Red Riding Hood's dress!  This line is of course Little Red Riding Hood.

As you can see from all the displays, the shop set up was Eye Candy every where you looked.

This quilt features 3D boxes and trims.

I really love, love, love this 3D pinwheel quilt, with the sideways chevrons for the boarder!

And how cute are these little ladybugs and bunnies?  I had to buy a panel!

Kelli, from (seriously.. I think it needs stitches.) created this Sweet Mod Geo Cruiser Quilt!  She used Lori Holt's newest line Gracie Girl, which is what you see all piled up below the quilt.

A little closer shot, sorry it is a bit blurry, all these photos were taken with my phone.  Hope I did not overload you with too many photos.  (I have more)

It was an Awesome three days of classes, sewing, quilty friends, fabric, and some shopping too!!!  When the next one comes around I hope to attend again :)  I learned new skills, meet new people, finally meet up with Jamie, after two years of blogging together!  She is the same Sweet person you meet on her blog!  If she gives permission I will post a photo of the two of us during the open sewing night, working on our projects.

More photos and details soon.

Three finishes!!!

Even tho Saturday was spent at the quilt guild, this was still a very good sewing weekend :)  All my May blocks are done, the last two will be on their way to the bee queen in the next couple of days.  On to my Three Finishes....
Here is Jaxin's finished quilt.  I am loving the one block that is outlined in bright red!  Since there was so much black it needed something to make it pop,and the red did the trick :)
All three baby quilts.  The one in the front is for little Gracie, then Jaxin's,and the folded quilt with the X is  baby Matty's :+)  All three are backed with fleece, because I wanted to use only fabric and batting from my stash.  Since I didn't have any/enough batting for all three, and I also wanted the backs to be soft for the babies fleece was the perfect backing!
Be sure to come back tomorrow evening for my contribution to the May Giveaway Day!!!  Thank goodness the last of the goodies arrived in my mail box on Friday afternoon.

Quilt progress

This weekend was very productive in the sewing room!  With Matty's quilt top all done,I decided to start on big brother Jaxin's.

Here are 6 of the 12 blocks that will make up the quilt top.  They still need to be sewn together, but I need to decide on sashing or no sashing.  If I do decide to go with sashing between the blocks it will be a narrow sashing.

Remember that I was making 3 baby quilts?  One each for the boys and also one for the neighbors baby girl.  So this is part of the quilt for Gracie, the top is about 3/4 of the way finished!  So far this one does not have any MARPAT fabric in it.  I am still debating on using some,or keeping it totally girly!

Of course I did not sew these blocks!  They are the latest round of Gothic Windows blocks to show up
in my mail box :)  I am getting really close to receiving all of them, which is very cool and exciting!!  Once they have all arrived,it will be time to decide on the layout/design of the quilt top.  Depending on how many blocks I end up with and the layout, there just might be enough blocks for 2 quilts!!  We will just have to wait and see how it works out ;)

Second quilt finish!!!

This evening after work and dinner I was able to finish up
this baby quilt.
It is the only small quilt that was in my UFO box.

After it has been washed it will be going to the local Teen
Pregnancy Center, which is where I donate the most.  They
also help out young family's in need.

Modern V

August is the last month for making a quilt from the
Amy Ellis book,Modern Basics
For my last quilt from this book I chose to make the
above quilt,called Modern V

The fabric I will be using.
It is from Kensington Studio for Quilting Treasures,
the line is called Penny Lane.

The fabric all the way on the right is not from this line but I
am thinking about adding some of it in to my quilt.
We shall see!

So I am off to cut into this delicious fabric :)
Check out yesterdays post to enter my giveaway

The pattern for this mini quilt came from the Lil Twister
book that I purchased with my winnings :)
I am calling this mini quilt "Peach Salsa Twister"

Palisade Peach Festival
Jolene and I made Peach Salsa from some of the peaches
we purchased there.
Hence the name of my mini quilt  :)
More on that later.

This is the back side, which I decided to piece.
For the top of the quilt I used 20 5x5 charm squares that were
in my swap box of fabric, and then some from my stash too.

Kimber emailed me this weekend to let me know
that she had received her mug rug and goodies!
