A little Color Me Retro...

It has been a busy first few days of the month around here, with not much sewing to show for it...

I did have time however to get another pouch sewn up for my partner!  Since she is the Silent type and has not said much,I am hoping that she will like this one...because I will be shipping it this next week.

I am so happy that Stephanie over at Quarter Incher put this swap together.  It has been so much fun!

Of course I did put my own little twist on the pouch, and changed it up just a bit.  You should head over to Flickr and check out all of the Awesome Triple Zip Pouches in this swap, they are amazing!

They say,"All good things must come to an end"  and so it is with the first round of Stash Bee.  As this is the last month.  This month we (in hive #1) were asked to sew the cross/plus block,so here is the one I will be dropping in the mail this week.

A parting shot for you... Mr P. is 5'9 as you can see the sunflower he is standing next to is a good four feet taller.  It is even taller than the roof of the trailer!  All of the sunflowers in the garden this year are volunteers, they are scattered throughout the garden.  Courtesy of the same resident squirrels, who keep depositing the peanuts all over the garden!  Of course if one of the neighbors didn't keep them in peanuts...

I will be back tomorrow to post my Goals for the month.

How does your garden grow?

So,since I am about to go take a batch of jam out of the canner, this is going to be a picture post.  All about the garden ...

Even though the Deer managed to get in and Burglarize the Garden recently,as well as my sunflowers GRR...they have survived and are doing almost as good as before the rampage :)

Happy Friday! Hope everyone had a great week :)  Just thought you might enjoy a few pretty flowers....

My poor caged in mums, with a sunflower growing up out of them!  They are growing right through the chicken wire, unfortunately it has to stay up or the deer will make quick work of the pretties :(

Don't you just love these fall colors,me too :)

Not at all as vivid color wise, but still beautiful.

How about this little guy?

This pale one is Mr. P's fave.

Last but not lease, the babies!  By next week they will all be done blooming, which is kinda sad,but at the same time means fall is here!  (At least in the rockies anyway)  So at the same time I am also happy because it is my most Favorite time of the year!

Enjoy !

Scraps to Hair Barretts

Here it is the middle of the week already, and what do I have to show for it???  Not much,it has been too hot to hang out in the sewing room.

Last week when cutting up all the jeans for the potholder pockets I came across a pair of overall shorts, that had Tweety rivets.  I cut them off and set them aside,to wait for inspiration to come to me.  Well last night it did!

These 4 all finished and ready to list in my shop,I still have two more to make as there were six rivets on the overall shorts.

These fabrics were pulled for a little project I hope to get to sometime this weekend ;)

Goodies from Anna Maria Horner's visit to my quilt guild last friday evening!  She brought along some lovelies in case we wanted to purchase something :)

My Indian Summer charm swap goodies arrived late last week!!!!  The FQ bundle from Pink Chalk Fabrics that coordinates beautifully with the charms :)  My head is swimming with ideas for these beauties!

When I arrived home at lunch a few more sunflowers were blooming, this is the first dark colored one!

Interested in a game of peek-A-boo?  It looks like this little pretty is :)

Have a great Thursday :)

Citrus Bag take 2

Saturday afternoon I finally sat down to work on some more totes.  Even though it was baking hot in my sewing room!  Where did all that rain in the afternoons run off to?

Here is the fruit of my endeavors,it is amazing to me how different this one looks from the first Citrus Bag!  As you can see I moved the pieced strip up to the middle of the bag,on the first one it was very near the bottom.  The straps/handles on this bag have three different colored prints also used in the body of the bag.  While the first one had only two different colors on the straps/handles.

The lighter colored strips of fabric above and below the center pieced strip bring out the lighter shades, where as on the first bag the colors were a lot more vibrant.

For the lining on this bag/tote I decided to go with a center stripe of color while leaving the rest of the body grey.  You can see that I didn't plan out the pockets very well.  So I just cut a couple of pieces of cardboard and slipped them into each pocket.  Now the bag stands up quite nicely, not that it didn't before, but now it doesn't slump at all.  Where the first one does ever so slightly.

The third and last Citrus Bag is in pieces at the moment, hoping to finish it up sometime this coming week.

The other evening I was out running around with the camera taking more photos of my sunflowers and the garden.  This is such a cool shot,I just couldn't pass it up :)

The first sunflower to bloom in the patch out front!

Check out what I spied in the garden!  In a couple of days the first tomato will be ready to pick!!  Have a great week :)

A "B" weekend

All the rain we have been getting lately has made baking this summer a breeze.so far!  What with the rain cooling things off,I have not even thought twice about cranking up the oven :)

This bread has fast become my favorite/go to recipe :)  You can find the original over @ Janet's blog Simply So Good   This loaf was whipped up Friday evening and proofed  overnight.  First thing yesterday morning it went in the oven.  Thirty minutes later this is what it looked like!  The flavors used in this bread were a Light Havarti cheese, and Lemon Basil.  The basil of course came straight from the garden :)

Another day, another loaf of bread!  Lately Mr. P. has been going around saying "everything is Better with Bacon"  So this loaf was especially for him,the flavors?  You guessed it,Bacon bits, sharp Cheddar, and green onion.  Now while I do not agree that everything is Better with bacon, this bread sure is Good ;)  Tired of me posting about bread?  Hope not because it has only just begun,as the possibilities could be endless ;)

On to sewing news, these are my July blocks for Stash Bee although happy with how these turned out they were both an inch short on one side :(  They were supposed to be 11 x 12 inches, mine turned out 11 x 11.  However KristyLou  said she would take them as they are!

Also finished up the other 3 boxy bags, and they are now listed in my etsy shop :)  In the background you can see the peas!  You might be wondering what is so exciting about peas??  Well, considering that the deer got into the garden and mowed them  a couple weeks ago, they are doing quite well :)

We have now extended the fence by about 3 feet with netting all the way around the garden,so far there have not been any more intruders in the garden!

This morning while the sun was still out I also snapped some photos of the sunflowers in the garden area.  Check out the bee on this one :)  Hope you all had as great a weekend, enjoy your week!

What will I become???

This is one of Many scraps and larger pieces of fabric that
received in the Stashtacular fabric swap.
It measures approximately 3 inches wide by 9 inches long.

Want to make a guess as to what it is going to become in the
next few days?!

Tonight I finally took the time to make a new ironing board
cover for my little portable ironing board.  The old one was
very sorry looking.  So sorry that I didn't even want to post a
photo of it!
This new one has warm and natural for the padding instead of
a paper thin piece of ? (not even sure what it was)

Lastly another photo of one of my sunflowers from the small
patch in the garden :)
