Brown/lunch bag

Do you brown bag lunch?
Around here it is a rare occasion when Mr. P or I go out to
lunch.  Most times we take our lunch to work.  With warmer
weather almost here it was time to get my butt in gear and
make a lunch bag for myself.
Here is what I came up with!  Although the fabric isn't summery
I love it!  Of course I love almost anything Sunflowers : )
The lining fabric is a coordinating green (my fave color)
I also added insulbrite instead of batting, so that I can keep
cold things cold, or hot things hot!

This was not on my summer plans list, because I forgot to
add it.  Now I just need to make some snack bags in coordinating
fabrics!

These coffee mug coasters were on my summer projects/plans
to do list.
Yay, my first project finished!
The top pair and the bottom pair I just pinked.  That way they
will end up being scruffy after being washed.  ( I hope )
The pair in the center have finished edges.

My Modern Basics book arrived today : )
So hopefully this weekend I will at least get started on
cutting out my blocks for my first of 12 quilts!

Green Bean & Mushroom Pie

3 cups sliced fresh mushrooms
4 tablespoons butter or margarine,divided
2 1/2 cups chopped onions
6 cups cut fresh green beans (bite sized pieces)
2 teaspoons minced fresh herbs (your choice)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/2 cup milk
1 package 8 oz. cream cheese,cubed

~ Crust Recipe ~
2 1/2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon dill weed
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup cold butter
1 cup sour cream
1 egg
1 tablespoon whipping cream

In a large skillet saute mushrooms in 1 tablespoon butter until tender;
drain and set aside.  In the same skillet, saute onions and beans in
remaining butter for 8-20 minutes or until beans are crisp-tender.
Add herbs, salt, pepper, cream cheese, milk and mushrooms.  Cook
and stir until the cream cheese is melted.  Remove from the stove;set
aside.
In a mixer or food processor combine the flour, baking powder, dill,
salt, and butter.  Mix or process until the mixture resembles coarse
crumbs.  Add sour cream and mix to form a soft dough.
Divide dough in half.  on a well floured surface, roll out one portion to fit
a deep-dish pie plate;trim pastry even with edge.
Pour green bean mixture into crust. roll out remaining pastry;
make a lattice top crust.  Trim, seal and flute edge.
In a small bowl, beat the egg and cream; brush over lattice top.
Bake at 400 degrees for 25-35 minutes, or until golden
brown.
Yield: 8-10 servings

Mother's Day & Summer sewing projects/plans

First the mother's Day part.
I made this case for glasses for my mom as part of her mother's
day gifts!
She loves owl's and her favorite color is blue.  So the inside is
lined with some soft blue flannel fabric that also has owl's
on it. :)

This is a Snap Happy bag that I made for mom also I used
heart shaped buttons instead of the prairie points for opening
the bag.

This is a mini Snap Happy bag made for my mom too!  I made
her two so that she could give one away to a friend, if she chooses!
For this bag I used the prairie point tabs for opening the bag.
These three projects were my first attempt at quilting with my
new Walking Foot.  They didn't turn out great, but they
weren't half bad either!

Now for the summer sewing projects/plans.
These two patterns are on my summer to do list.
I picked them up recently and am hoping to make up a few of
each of these!

I found a tute at Cluck Cluck Sew for making sprocket pillows,
which I want to try sometime this summer.  I have been thinking
about what fabric I will use to make these!

I joined the quilting book club at 1 choice 4 quilting  This is my
Max and whiskers fabric that will be used to make the first
quilt!  And I hope that my Modern Basics quilt book by
Amy Ellis arrives this week, so that I can start cutting the
fabric.  I still have to purchase the backing and the batting,
but have some time before I will need it.

These squares were given to me by someone at work.  When
I received them they smelled of smoke so I washed them.
Which made them fray on the edges.  So I plan on making
some scrappy coffee mug coasters with them.

These are just a few of the many projects that I plan to
work on and hopefully finish this summer!
I know, Sew Many Projects ~ Sew Little Time
Wish me luck :)
