Fall Frolic & October Goal (s)

This week past week I was able to squeeze in a little more sewing!

Sorry for the blurry cell photo, but this one was snapped off pretty late at night.

There is a better close up for you,I am really loving the bird blocks and wish I had included a few more.  Even though they would have been repeats of the blocks already there.

This is how far I was able to get before running out of the DS Quilts print, the orange print sashing strips.  Hopefully Joann's will still have some of it next weekend when we go to the city.

Recently while surfing Pinterest for Christmas Ideas I came across this Pin for Infusing Sugar over at Sugar and Charm since no one locally sells cute little jars like the ones they used.  I purchased a few sugar dispensers at Walmart for $.97 each, although not as pretty they are just as functional.  I layered the zest and the sugar, but next time will just mix it all together.

The rest of the fruit did not go to waste, instead it was sliced up and placed into the food dehydrator.  When it is all dehydrated it will be used to make simmering pouches for last minute Holiday gifts.  I just need to pick up the spices to go with them.

A handful of yoyo's that will become Christmas Ornaments...

Lastly,my goal for this month.  The HoneyMooner suitcase, which will be a twofold goal/finish.  Since it will be for both the BigCity Bag SAL (button on my sidebar) as well as my ALYOF Goal.  I have everything except the 48" zipper, wish me luck(I need it)!

Can't see the forest for the Trees

My first project for the after Christmas Sew Along is trees! Yep,the Christmas kind.

I purchased six cones sometime before the Holiday madness started.  The plan was to get them made and use them as name holders...
That did not happen!  So when I saw that Karen over at Sew Much 2 Luv was having an after Christmas Link party, for all the things we wanted to make for Christmas, but didn't have time too.  I jumped on the band wagon(so to speak)!
All 6 of my cone trees.
Also on my list were these super cute little yoyo trees. I also made 6 of them, although there are only 4 in the above photo.
These are a great hand sewing project that can be done in the car, while traveling :)
You can leave them like this, and just use them as a shelf or table decoration/place setting.
You could also add a hanger to the back at or near the  top and make an ornament out of them.
Here are all my trees,or my very own forest!
If you want to get in on the fun,you can still join!

Oh Baby ! Yo Yo's

I found this little hamper at the thrift store last summer.  It was
a steal at $3.00!
It had some very dirty fabric and matching trim on it when I
purchased it, which I took off and replaced with the ladybug
fabric.  Then it sat in a corner of my sewing room, because I
just couldn't find any trim to go with the ladybug fabric.
So while straightening up my sewing room on vacation a thought
occurred to me , why not use yo yo's instead of trim?

So after looking through my stash and finding some fabrics
that would work, this is what I came up with!
After making all the yo yo's I plugged in the glue gun and
got to work.
First I glued some sheer white ribbon left over from  making Jolene's
wedding bouquet, then on went the yo yo's!

Here is a close-up shot!  It turned out so cute!
