This is the sneak peak,I showed my regular followers recently! Did any of you guess what I had in the works??
Since this hop is about boys of all sizes and ages,I wanted to show you the container that stores my basting pins. This belonged to my grandpa,he loved to have a smoke after dinner every night. When he passed on,I requested and received a few of these containers to remember him by. So now I think of him when basing my quilts :) Yes my project for this hop is a quilt!
When thinking about what fabric to use for my project the construction print at the top,center,and bottom of the quilt came to mind. It has been in my stash for about 14 years! High time it was used don't you think,me too ;)
The quilt kept slipping off of the equipment,so I finally had to fold it on the bucket in order to get a shot of the top row with the prairie points. The pattern is called Fantasy Row,by Holly Draney for Sandra Workman of Pine Mountain Designs.
The name of this quilt is Cone Zone,it measures 45 x 54 and has brown Minky fabric on the back. Which makes it a perfect nap time quilt! Thank you for hopping by today to check out my boy project,now go visit all the other wonderfully creative bloggers who are sharing the day with me :)

I think it's wonderful that you have that container for your pins. I've never seen a clear one, though I have multiple cigar boxes I've acquired from cigar shops - no one of us smokes, but the wooden boxes are great for storing threads! You quilt is so bright and cheerful. I love the pic on the bridge.

ReplyDeleteLove the name Cone Zone...that was your work zone wasn't it ! Minky backing conjures up images of wrapped up in it drinking hot chocolate by the fire on this cold day. I also really like that you store your pins in a container that makes you think of your G-pa. Another snuggly image with a hint of cigar.

ReplyDeleteLike everyone else, I love the bridge shot. I also want to know how you kept it there safely. I like the fabric and the use of prairie points. Now, 14 years sounds new to me. I have some stash that I bought in the 70s. A couple times I've pulled fabric and not had enough because I forgot to check the width--way back when, we could buy either 36-inch or 45-inch widths...dress patterns had cutting instructions for both.

What a great quilt for a little boy! The pattern is really special--I thought I kind of recognized the design:). And I like how you used the novelty fabric (yay!). The photo of the quilt above the stream is such a perfect setting. You did fantastic work for this blog hop!!!
